DATCOM

Vehicle Location, Navigation and Remote Control Systems

Description :

The DATCOM, is a high-tech location and navigation system which has made a mark in vehicle navigation and fleet management. The system is versatility and guarantees accuracy in positioning and data acquisition and transfer for many applications in automobiles, containers, ship, and even persons.

Customers can request special features to be added on the standard features of the system, and IS-team in Germany works to realise this features for the customers.

Depending on the distance between the base station and the equipment to be monitored and the area to be covered, different transmission medium can be realised to send both position signal from the GPS satellites, messages entered on keyboard modules and computer or/and measured (telemetry) parameters by the system. GPS is used to acquire position signals. GSM (SMS), trunk radio and direct satellite communication systems are used to relay position and data between the vehicles and control station. An accuracy of +/- 5 meters is guaranteed by the system by combining GPS data signals from various satellites.

Exchanged messages are simple texts which are either directly typed by the sender or stored command in the screen module or still very importantly telemetry parameters. Through a feature of monitoring status of the vehicles/container telemetry, remote switch commands can be sent to activate/deactivate facilities in the vehicles.

Application examples :

Ø       Money transport.

Ø       Emergency Applications (e.g. Hospital and Fireworks).

Ø       Logistics in company ground, harbour and airport.

Ø       Private vehicle monitoring.

Ø       Fleet Management.

DATCOM H Box

The DATCOM H Box represent the basic level in the IS system solution range. Equipped with a GSM modem or trunk Radio and two way networks, encompassing digital and analogue input and output connections, serial interfaces, a voltage regulator and a clock. This box supports a transmission of telemetry data, gate (door) contact, tachometer signals etc.. Load situation and simple status messages from the vehicles to the control centre. The control centre can activate switches in the vehicles and manage contacts. An integrated GPS receiver also enables the DATCOM Box to transmit the exact vehicle location data in accordance with the dispatcher’s input, using cyclical information: after a specified number of kilometres, or on entering/leaving specified zones. Furthermore, the DATCOM 80, 640, and 640 Touch displays can be connected to the DATCOM Box. A standard option is of course, the connection of a telephone receiver and /or hand-free unit; other easy to install components include a temperature recorder, scanner, mobile printer etc. The compact construction, simple assembly and handling ensure easy deployment of large quantities of the Box in the freight industry, particularly in the area of refrigeration and heat transport, and for vehicle monitoring in the security service sector.

DATCOM 640-3

The interactive on-board computer DATCOM 640 display with 640 visible characters, supports graphics, is easy to read, splash water and dust resistant and is operated via large DATCOM film keyboard. is on-board computer supports written communication between the vehicle and the control centre.

Instructions, addresses and even simple graphics can be transmitted to the display screen as data messages. By selecting Predefined answers on the keyboard, the driver sends his feedback' to the control centre. Data is transferred via GSM, trunk radio and two-way networks. If a telephone receiver or hands-free unit is installed the telephone number even automatically by selecting the pre-programmed shortcut button. If the vehicle has an integrated GPS module, the equipment will automatically transmit the exact vehicle location each time a message is sent. The on-board computer has switch input and output channels for monitoring and managing vehicle telemetry, and standard interfaces to connect a mobile printer, scanner or temperature recorder. DATCOM 640 is deployed by freight companies, courier and package delivery services, security transport companies, emergency and hospital services, as well as in buses and public transportation.

DATCOM 80-3

The interactive on-board computer DATCOM 80 offers a display with 80 visible characters, is easy to read and easy to operate via the keyboard. This on-board computer supports written communication between the vehicle and the control centre. Assignments, instructions and addresses etc. can be transmitted to the display screen in the vehicle as data messages (the last messages can always be accessed simply by scrolling). By selecting predefined answers on the keyboard, the driver sends his ‘feedback’ to the control centre. Data is transferred via GSM trunk radio and two-way networks. If a telephone receiver or hands-free unit is installed the telephone number can be dialled, even automatically by selecting the pre-programmed shortcut button. If the vehicle has an integrated GPS module, the equipment will automatically transmit the exact vehicle location each time a message is sent. The on-board computer switch input and output channels for monitoring and managing vehicle telemetry, and standard interfaces to connect a mobile printer, scanner or temperature recorder. DATCOM 80 is frequently deployed in public transportation systems, by freight companies, courier and package delivery services, security transport companies, emergency and hospital services.

DATCOM 640 H5-Touch

The interactive on-board computer DATCOM 640 H5 Touch offers a display with 640 visible characters, supports graphics, and is easy to read. It is splash water and dust resistant, and ensures easy operation via the large touch screen display. This on-board computer supports written communication between the vehicle and the control centre. Assignments, instructions and even simple graphics can be transmitted to the display screen as data messages. By simply touching the predefined answers on the screen, the driver sends his 'feedback' to the control centre. Data is transferred via GSM trunk radio and two-way if a telephone receiver or hands-free unit is installed the telephone number can be dialled by lightly touching the display, or even automatically by selecting the pre-programmed shortcut button. The extreme ease and comfort with which DATCOM 640 H5 Touch can be deployed makes it favourite for truck drivers, courier and package delivery services, security transport companies, and emergency and hospital services.

DATCOM management software

DATCOM management software is designed for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and is multi-location when integrated with a TCP server. The parallel structure of the TCP server enables several dispatchers to work with their allocated vehicles at any given time, to receive and send data via diverse media, providing instant on- screen determination of co-ordinates and a status report. Five password protected access levels ensure that only employees with appropriate authorisation can alter program and telemetry settings in the vehicles. The vehicle symbols are displayed both on digital vector charts and scanned, calibrated maps or graphics. A simple mouse-click on the symbol displayed on the map or fleet chart opens the communication window for the selected vehicle. This window contains setting options for the GPS Request: an individual on call option, or cyclic options at set distances or on entering/leaving a specified area, switches can be activated in the vehicle, texts can be written and transmitted. All transmission receipt, location and telemetry data is archived in tabular format. 'Time-guard' functions coupled with the order and status review help the dispatcher to monitor automatically precise compliance with schedule requirements
